Progress aims to increase the (accrued) pensions each year. For indexation, Progress distinguishes between the following target groups:

• Pensioners
• Employees
         o 'active participants' who are currently accumulating pension entitlements through 
            Progress
• Former employees
         o 'inactive participants' whose pension entitlements are still held by Progress

Unilever and the Dutch trade unions have agreed on a number of rules for indexation; these rules are specified in Article 11 of Pensioenreglement 2007 (2007 Pension Regulations). Progress is responsible for implementing the indexation process.
